Find out moreMost of the attention on a certified pre-owned Land Rover goes to the inspection. Once the paperwork is signed and the vehicle leaves the lot on Rue Bougainville, a different question takes over: what protection comes home with you, how long does it last, and what do you need to do to keep it?
In Quebec, that answer has two layers. Land Rover’s Approved Certified Pre-Owned programme adds a limited warranty, roadside assistance and a few ownership extras. Quebec’s consumer protection law adds legal warranties that apply to every used vehicle bought from a dealer. Here is how both work after delivery.

The Approved Certified Pre-Owned Limited Warranty runs up to seven years or 160,000 km from the vehicle’s original in-service date, whichever comes first. The in-service date is the day the vehicle was first sold new or put into use. Coverage picks up once the New Vehicle Limited Warranty ends.
The clock starts with the vehicle, so your purchase date does not reset it. A Range Rover Velar first delivered three years ago with 60,000 km on the odometer has up to four years or 100,000 km of programme coverage ahead of it, whichever arrives first. Some vehicles carry different terms, so ask for the remaining coverage on the exact VIN before you sign.
Covered repairs carry a $0 deductible. The warranty is recognized in Canada, the United States, Puerto Rico and Guam, so a mechanical issue on a ski weekend in Vermont is handled the same way as one on the Métropolitain.
A limited warranty has limits, and knowing them upfront avoids surprises at the service desk. Land Rover lists wear components and routine items outside the coverage:
Your local authorized retailer holds the complete terms for your vehicle, and it is worth reading them once alongside your owner’s manual.
Every Approved Certified Pre-Owned Land Rover includes 24/7 Roadside Assistance across Canada and the continental U.S. for the warranty term. It covers breakdowns and other roadside trouble, including emergency towing to the nearest Land Rover retailer. That matters on a January drive up the 15 to Mont-Tremblant as much as on a long run south toward New York.
Two more items come with the vehicle. Every certified Land Rover includes a CARFAX vehicle history report at purchase, with details on service records, mileage and ownership. New owners also get a three-month trial of the SiriusXM Platinum Plan.
The warranty asks a few things of the owner. Follow the maintenance schedule in your owner’s manual and keep every maintenance receipt, since they can be required to support a claim. Failures caused by skipped maintenance fall outside the coverage.
Warranty repairs must be done at an authorized Land Rover retailer. You can book with any authorized retailer by giving your VIN, so a repair during a trip does not require a drive back to Montreal. For scheduled maintenance close to home, the Decarie Motors Land Rover service department in Montreal is a short drive away.
Quebec law adds protection that sits beside the Land Rover warranty and does not replace it. Every used vehicle sold by a dealer comes with a good working order warranty that starts at delivery and covers the parts and labour needed to keep the vehicle running properly, with no deductible.
For contracts signed since April 5, 2024, its length depends on how long the model year has been on the market and the kilometres on the odometer:
|
Category |
Vehicle Age and Kilometres |
Good Working Order Warranty |
|
A |
4 years or less, up to 80,000 km |
6 months or 10,000 km |
|
B |
5 years or less, up to 100,000 km |
3 months or 5,000 km |
|
C |
7 years or less, up to 120,000 km |
1 month or 1,700 km |
|
D |
Older or higher kilometres |
No good working order warranty; other legal warranties still apply |
Claims under this warranty go to the selling dealer, while Land Rover warranty repairs can be booked at any authorized retailer. Quebec law also gives every buyer legal warranties covering normal use, reasonable durability and hidden defects, and these apply automatically, even on older vehicles.
Think of the two layers as a team. In the first months after purchase, the good working order warranty from the selling dealer covers the vehicle’s basic operation. Over the longer term, the Land Rover warranty carries covered repairs through to the seven-year or 160,000-km mark, and roadside assistance stays with you for the same stretch. Quebec’s legal warranties remain in the background the whole time.
Bring your questions about in-service dates, remaining coverage and Quebec’s warranty categories to the team at Decarie Motors Land Rover in Montreal. Book a visit to review the certified pre-owned Land Rover you have in mind, and leave knowing exactly what protection drives home with it.
